Why live in Hopkinton?

The town of Hopkinton was incorporated on December 13, 1715, and is located in Middlesex County. Hopkinton was named for an early colonist of Connecticut, Edward Hopkins, who left a large sum of money to be invested in land in New England. The town is best known as the starting point of the Boston Marathon, held annually on Patriots' Day in April, and as the headquarters for the enterprise-oriented Dell EMC.

Recreation

Hopkinton has a pair of state parks. The 1,450-acre Hopkinton State Park offers two swimming areas, a sailboat launch, picnic tables, ballfields, and trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. Whitehall State Park lacks beaches but is a good fishing spot.

Education

The Hopkinton Public Schools are top rated. It has 3,482 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1. Based on state test scores, 81% of students are at least proficient in math and 81% in reading.

Transportation

MBTA commuter rail service is available to South Station and Back Bay Station, Boston, via the MBTA Framingham-Worcester Commuter Rail Line, which connects South Station in Boston and Union Station in Worcester.
